Born in Wichita, Kansas, Jessica Burke is a figurative artist and educator living in North Carolina. She was raised on a steady diet of Saturday morning cartoons and Little Debbie Snack Cakes. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Oklahoma State University and her Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Carolina. Ms. Burke is an Associate Professor of Art and Director of the Foundations Program at the University of North Carolina. She maintains a small but productive studio in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is interested in exploring various interpretations on the impact of popular culture on identity. Her work has been collected in both public and private collections. It has been shown in over 50 exhibitions in museums and art galleries nationally and internationally in the United Kingdom, Korea, China, Japan, Holland and Italy.
