Since I work for a university, I am always interested in seeing how "university life" is portrayed in popular culture. I recently stumbled on a set of vintage advertisements for 1964's Barbie on Campus line.
You get a chance to see Barbie's dorm room-that looks nothing like today's dorm room, but I really appreciate the matching decor and lack of a TV, Wii or docking station of any kind.
You can see where barbie will spend her time. Please note the lack of any academic pursuits.
And you can see what Barbie and Ken will be wearing. I especially enjoy the masquerade outfits that would be the hit of any greek event.
Aside from the gender bias and its implications by advertisers, I was struck by the clarity and beauty of the info-graphics themselves.
