How to Photograph (document) your work

Lots of people have asked me about how to document their work. The best answer and most expensive answer is to hire a professional photographer, in which case you will deliver the work to their studio and then return to pick up the work and usually a CD of images in raw, tif and jpeg formats.
If you cannot afford to do this or do not have local access to a photographer that has experience doing this, then you can definitely do it yourself.

(The following images are from a book I highly recommend all artist to have, The Practical Handbook for the Emerging Artist, by Margaret Lazzari)
Equipment Needed: Camera (best quality that you can afford), tripod, light source (preferably on stands)

How to Make Your Own Softbox (Great tool to diffuse light for both portrait and documentation)
How to build your own backdrop (Both of these entries are from a great website called PhotoTuts+)

I have even more information if you want, let me know and I will do another post on sizing, file formats and additional tips.
