This summer I started work on a series of paintings for a two-person exhibition with Richmond, Virginia based artist, Jessica Sims, that is scheduled for September. When we decided to do a show together (our third, actually), we wanted to give ourselves a theme and create work expressly for this show. Since Sims is an abstract painter, we decided that this would allow us to be unified based on subject and palette choice. Our work would be inspired by highly-charged 1950's advertising that celebrates blatant sexism and consumption. I will be posting my paintings periodically so please check back often and let me know what you think.
